Pros
Emotionally supportive management. Sense of family among staff. Good food discount but they make you buy a drink. Flexible scheduling.
Cons
When I worked for Cheddar’s, to make bigger profits the company reduced server’s wages from a measly $2.43 to $2.15. Management’s rationalization was that it’s it’s all about the tips that matter. The restaurant attracts clientele that can not afford to tip well, on top of a very affordable menu. On a separate occasion, the company increased the server’s tip outs to pay for other support staff, in order to supplement the increase in minimum wage. They also would over staff on the weekends and have no work for some of the servers, even though the servers were scheduled to work. It’s the Wal-Mart of the restaurant industry.
