Pros

You get acquainted with the world of international development, meet folks that are well respected in their technical fields and, if you're lucky, some opportunities for travel and work outside new business and PMU work.

Cons

Many! Ranging from blatant disrespect to low pay, the list could go on. Was told at orientation that Chemonics was a place to find your interests in certain fields of development. A few months in, I asked to move to a project that I found more aligned with my technical interests, only to be scolded by my manager and told if they were higher up, my position at the company would have been reevaluated. Was expected to work two projects and new business without any compensation or respect for my personal time. Had a micromanager who insisted they time my work to show what efficiency was. Travel opportunities were hoarded by a certain group of managers, very rarely letting others have an opportunity, even though we were told opportunities were available. Favoritism among managers was rampant. Would ask questions, only to be met with impatience a good amount of the time. The system for payments is a total nightmare, with some payments not going out due to glitches, and then the associate getting blamed. Never time to learn more about technical areas or take advantage of training opportunities because the work load is so insane, or managers had their own training opportunities that superseded yours.

Pros

Truly a great company to work for, they care so much about work/life balance. Everyone is kind and they are like family.

Cons

It can be hard working from home because you never see your coworkers and sometimes you lose that momentum.

Pros

Clear company structure, processes, and tools. Professional development funds available. Easy-to-use and high-quality benefits. Pay is fair for the work.

Cons

"Company is family" mentality, sanitized rather than straightforward communications from executives, poor training, unclear standards of success, vague professional growth guidance and no clear paths towards becoming the ideal professional at this company.
