Pros
The pay as a patient care technician is great (I'm a nursing student). Also, it's a huge blessing getting experience on the floors as a tech, while being able to work prn, since nursing school requires a very minimal and flexible job. I can work as little as 1 shift every pay period, but also as much as 3-4 shifts a week and make overtime pay. I work with the clinical resource team, so I float to many different units. Most of the nurses I work with are fantastic, the patients and families are great, and my days are productive and usually fast-paced. My team leads are great, and I love my coworkers.
Cons
Clinical care is hard work. That's just part of the job. Occasionally I work with nurses or other techs who aren't helpful and create more work rather than less, but you would find that anywhere and that is not the norm.
