Pros

Compensation is decent and there’s money to find for you if you’re talented or bring value to the organization.

Cons

Where to start.... easily the worst place I’ve ever worked. There are constant politics. Favoritism- people get promoted based on who they know. The mission is sold as a reason to love your job while senior management is constantly selling the “Northern Market Strategy” and telling people they can leave if they’re not only into bringing concierge medicine to North Dallas. Favoritism leads to the wrong employees getting promoted. No one actually has any rigor behind what they’re doing and therefore massive amounts of waste. The clinical side seems okay, smart doctors, but admin is incompetent because they cannot retain or attract smart staff. I’m on my way out as soon as I settle some personal things I need to take care of- it’s a place to coast making nice money and using 1/8th of your brain power. Benefits could be better, especially time off for junior employees.

Pros

-great managers -non-interpreting staff very familiar working with an interpreter -policies and expectations set for most situations -exceptionally developed department (which includes a senior director) relative to other hospitals, which often lack even a basic interpreting department

Cons

-work volume; often few breaks, definitely not enough to do anything other than work-related tasks (e.g., study for class, make a personal phone call) -inflexible schedule -work flow heavily dependent on coworker proactivity -leadership structure (managers over leads over interpreters) can result in micromanagment
