Pros

Helping children and their families. Good clinical experience-you will see everything. Very dedicated therapy teams. Recently enhanced benefits.

Cons

Very little flexibility. Minimal opportunity to advance or develop non-therapist skillset. Management not promoted from within, due to leadership bias rather than therapist skills. Senior leadership (Director/Senior Director level) not genuine or transparent, or competent. They lack vision and ability to strategize and innovate in order to leverage therapist abilities. Recent listening sessions resulted in generic tone-deaf responses cut and pasted from policy manual, which did not address therapist's concerns. This is why there is so much OT/PT/SLP turnover in CHRTS.

Pros

-great managers -non-interpreting staff very familiar working with an interpreter -policies and expectations set for most situations -exceptionally developed department (which includes a senior director) relative to other hospitals, which often lack even a basic interpreting department

Cons

-work volume; often few breaks, definitely not enough to do anything other than work-related tasks (e.g., study for class, make a personal phone call) -inflexible schedule -work flow heavily dependent on coworker proactivity -leadership structure (managers over leads over interpreters) can result in micromanagment
