Pros

It was always my dream to work in the same hospital that I received treatment at as a child and young adult. There are so many great people within the organization to guide you and I have a wonderful primary mentor and many great additional mentors. My fellow leaders at my level are wonderful and like family. Between them and the staff that report to me they make me want to never leave this role.

Cons

Being in a leadership role your responsibilities can add up quick. Being on the front line helping kids paired with the staff who report to me makes the long days worth it. You acquire vacation at a high rate in leadership but can routinely find yourself working forty hours quickly in the week if you don't take back time earlier in the week. In turn you have lot of time but may not use it and may end up selling it back. To be successful you need to be able to manage your work life balance, The biggest downside is you may love your position but fiscal growth paired with the same annual merit increase give or take a percent makes obtaining that larger salary unattainable in the short term.
