Pros

🌯 Chipotle's AI Hiring is a Total Paradox (Literally) - My Nightmare Story You guys, I have to share my completely ridiculous experience trying to get hired at Chipotle. They use this AI hiring system called Paradox, and the irony is so thick I could spread it on a burrito. "Paradox" means a totally contradictory situation, which is exactly what this was! The system is supposed to make hiring faster (they even named their AI 'Ava Cado'—cute, but not helpful). But here's how the high-tech process failed spectacularly because of a total lack of human communication: 🤖 The AI Got Me the Job, But the Human Manager Disappeared * Great Interview, Vanishing Offer: I had a fantastic interview with the manager. She loved me, confirmed my phone number, and said she'd send an official offer email later that day. It never showed up. * The AI Takes Over: Days later, I get a text from the AI that helped me schedule the interview, asking if I accept the offer! I said yes, and a few days after that, the AI texts me a start date and time. I thought, "Cool! AI is handling it, I'm hired." I never heard a word from her again until what I thought was day one from what AI said, who was the only contact I had.

Cons

* The Faux First Day: the manager had mentioned the hours were 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so I showed up right on time at 8:00 AM on the start day the AI gave me. The staff was totally confused. She wasn't there, and they had no idea I was coming. They told me to come back in a few hours. 🚨

Pros

Somewhat easy to pick up short term work, and depending on the location co-workers can be cool. The free meals are also pretty good, and there is a significant employee discount usually.

Cons

Extremely inconsistent experience between stores. One store I worked at had a really chill manager, while other ones would have management that made the experience absolutely miserable. I had one store that "unofficially" hired me for 18 hours one week and then refused to pay me for those hours, so I guess make absolute sure that all of your hours are recorded in their system. Because portions aren't standardized very well, a significant amount of customers will be angry at you if you don't give enough food, or if you give too much food your manager will yell at you. The fact that the food is made in front of the customer leads to significantly more negative customer interactions. If you do work at a Chipotle, make absolute sure it is one that isn't very busy, as it can be the difference between a relatively chill job and a stressful nightmare.
