Pros

-benefits *Health/Dental/vision insurance package is one the best PPO plans out there. *401k benefit is pretty great. 2 yrs in already at 20k saved. *vacation and sick pay great…. But hard to get. (Explained in cons) *good work environment if you are the one who creates it.(explained in cons)

Cons

*apprentice role requires 50hr work week at minimum. No work life balance. Only benefit is after 40 hours any work hour worked is overtime. And paid double. *requesting time off (vacation and only vacation) depends on FL decision and having forming a plan to cover your shifts. (You work with your GM to figure out strategy). Unpaid request time off is not an option. Unfortunately. *calling off for sick pay is equally hard to get. You have to be experiencing one of the listed symptoms on the exclusion list to have a sick day. No mental sick days available. Again dependent on you FL/SSR to approve. *chipotle standards of work leaves no room for human error. All systems and tools created by chipotle assume human to act like a robot. No water breaks no/bathroom breaks. Exhaustingly validating and checking in on new coorporate standards and systems. *consistently inconsistent. Let me explain. Chipotle is a fast moving company which is great if it ultimately benefits the restaurant, but that means systems are always changing/updating, one has to be on top of everything all the time , which becomes exhausting. * As middle management you get to form the kind of work environment. If you are a decent human that cares for people’s well being, understanding that this is a minimum wage job, who can handle stressful and overwhelming situations with patience and grace you get to form the kind of leadership legacy and environment for your team. Those higher up tend to forget all of that and focus on numbers and margins. (Their bonuses) **as middle management just lead with integrity. Lead with confidence/honesty/kindness. Know you probably won’t receive it back.

Pros

Somewhat easy to pick up short term work, and depending on the location co-workers can be cool. The free meals are also pretty good, and there is a significant employee discount usually.

Cons

Extremely inconsistent experience between stores. One store I worked at had a really chill manager, while other ones would have management that made the experience absolutely miserable. I had one store that "unofficially" hired me for 18 hours one week and then refused to pay me for those hours, so I guess make absolute sure that all of your hours are recorded in their system. Because portions aren't standardized very well, a significant amount of customers will be angry at you if you don't give enough food, or if you give too much food your manager will yell at you. The fact that the food is made in front of the customer leads to significantly more negative customer interactions. If you do work at a Chipotle, make absolute sure it is one that isn't very busy, as it can be the difference between a relatively chill job and a stressful nightmare.
