At Christie's you will be given a lot of responsibilities from the start and should expect to learn a lot. As a speciliast, I could develop relationships with key contacts in the art world and learn about the research, pricing and effective marketing of art.
Cons
Christie's has low salaries relative to other industries, however it may be one of the highest paying jobs in the art world. Expect to work long hours at times; as a specialist you will work weekends during the catalogue deadlines and right before the auction. The job can get stressful due to the many deadlines (e.g. catalogue production, marketing, tours, exhibition setup) associated with the auction.
