Pros

The compensation is adequate The work life situation is adequate, flex time, TCommuting etc. but examiners and supervisors in the field offices are overwhelmed at times due to staffing issues. Chubb is a financially stable company and is well managed at that level

Cons

Compensation is adequate but becoming too variable and the majority of the performance measures are outside of the direct control of the examiners and supervisors Sr management is promoted based on Chubb's politically correct obsession with diversity at the expense of merit,, they are more obsessed with awards from HR organizations than actual competence/performance driven reward Sr management in HO and the field have little regard for employees and are becoming increasingly divorced from the daily claim functions. Field/zonal management leads by intimidation, does not encourage feedback or involvement in decision making particularly from their supervisory staff who have ideas to offer. It is a very political and hierarchical claims organization in an underwriting company that increasingly has little regard for claim staff but never fails to promote their accomplishments when it will serve their purposes. Many of the zonal field managers are incompetent and have no leadership skills. They are more concerned with their own situation in times of downsizing then taking measures that will ensure the success of their departments. They have little understanding of how to best apply limited human resources and accurately measuring workflow because they use insufficient metrics. Therefore, human resources are applied based on politics and not need. Many employees in the claims field offices feel very unrewarded and under appreciated. There are problems simmering at Chubb that will come to fruition if the overall employment market changes. I predict the current HO leadership will not be concerned with this but it may have a definite impact on the Chubb brand and quality of their claims department.

Pros

Business side is smart and is superb at their product

Cons

The IT organization struggles with structural challenges that impact efficiency. The offshore-heavy model in India means US-based employees regularly work early hours to stay aligned, which is unsustainable long-term. The workforce is heavily weighted toward a high-headcount service model rather than investing in strong engineering talent — you need fewer, better engineers, not more bodies. Central tech functions are attempting to build platforms, but without a clear shared understanding of what a platform actually means, these initiatives remain incomplete. The result is heavy manual workarounds propping up half-finished solutions. Strategic direction shifts frequently, and ongoing layoff announcements make it difficult to plan or build momentum.
