Pros

In technical/dev roles you get to work with some really dedicated and talented people. Corporate Legal was the most ethical/professional legal team I've encountered in my professional career.

Cons

HR was demonstrably against internal promotions to the point of being vindictive. The talent that stayed were clearly not staying for the pay. I worked with a number of people that quit and re-applied to get a position with a competitive salary. I left when when literally every offer was a substantial pay raise.

Pros

Great people who work well together across company silos. Good pay, especially with stock performing well.

Cons

Extremely low attrition (~2% annually) leaves a workforce that is very experienced at Ciena. Unfortunately, this means high resistance to change and low awareness of industry best practices. Low attrition also leads to minimal opportunities for job growth.
