Pros
The work, in theory, is easy.
Cons
The reality is, this is a company that cares only about the bottom line. In our area we have the lowest pay of anyone in our industry by at least 15%. (Can make more taking orders at fast food restaurant). Stores are woefully understaffed to the point that some stores have 2-3 employees for a 24 hour stores. Managers routinely work 60+ hours/week, with most making an hourly rate at $13/hr (or less) (Just above what Walmart cashiers make.) Its no better at the next level as Market Managers are working shifts in stores and are unable to assist stores without working 70-80 hrs a week. Employees and Managers are leaving the company daily, and because of the low pay we are forced to offer, it is not uncommon to get laughed at when you make the offer to a prospect. Upper management actually celebrated last year that our pay scale had finally made it to 8.50/hr. This is a job where there is a real chance of seeing a gun in your face. But, as long as the bottom line is good, there is no realistic expectation for any of this to change. Of course, if we didn't keep investing in a new HR program every couple of years, and buying every store with the sole goal of being the chain with the most stores...they might actually pay their people. I can't imagine it is much better at the office level either, as we see job postings for support personnel daily, and its not uncommon to see the " This person has decided to pursue other interests effective immediately" emails. So recap...Long solo shifts, while underpaid, and understaffed leads to unhappy employees.
