Pros

I found no pros unless you include the manager being gone most of day and nobody running the show.

Cons

I ended up working there because they bought out the company I was with for years. I was told to wear street clothes when I come in to do the cooler or work outside "so you cant be forced to run the register." I was then told that I was working on my own time and was not to clock in because I was out of uniform. Are you kidding???? THIS IS ILLEGAL!!!!. The manager's family works in the cooler and puts truck away and they are not employees. Then when they leave they have a big bag of groceries with them that never gets rang up or paid for. I was also ordered to bring cookies from home, made on my own time at my own expense, so they could sell them for the company charity drive. THIS IS ALSO ILLEGAL!!! Charity drive is supposed to be for a short time and benefit the March of Dimes. Charity buckets are out ALL YEAR LONG, AND THE MANAGER HOLDS THE MONEY IN HER BANK ACCOUNT BECAUSE SHE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE BUCKETS OUT OR BE COLLECTING MONEY. She makes $400 a week (saw her paystub) and spends money like Oprah on a mall binge. I called the anonymous whistleblower hotline, and then Got 3 hours the next week after being full time before I blew the whistle. Everyone spends all their time lying for each other, and to each other, and on each other when it suits them. I walked out and hired an attorney.

Pros

The work environment is relaxed and low-stress, and the projects themselves are genuinely interesting and give you room to work on real, meaningful problems. Compensation is fair for the base role, and the day-to-day culture is easy to work within.

Cons

Growth opportunities within the company are limited, and it can be hard to see a clear path upward. Compensation, while fair, isn't very competitive compared to the market for similar data science roles, especially as skills develop. Projects are interesting but aren't closely tied to cutting-edge AI/ML work, so it's harder to build modern, in-demand technical skills here.
