Pros

Management does a good job of communicating with employees and asking for feedback. Opportunities for advancement were clearly communicated and fostered. Annual reviews were completed on-time and the overall atmosphere was positive. Emphasis was placed on customer service and many initiatives were designed to improve client retention. Many formal internal training programs were available for employees.

Cons

Salary is not up to industry standards. Top management was not well qualified and industry savvy. So much emphasis was put on shareholder value and quarterly earnings reports that the long-term vision was ignored. Not enough was invested in the future since the future was the next quarterly report.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
