Pros

There are many talented people there, and lots of opportunities to do some interesting work.

Cons

Unfortunately, the work is hampered by lots of bureaucracy. Often times, corporate politics, rather than results, determine who gets ahead. The infrastructure is antiquated. Too little attention is paid to strenthening the long term health of the company. Every project is reviewed for quick pay back without thought to investing in long term growth. Recent layoffs contributed to severe morale issues; just waiting for the other shoe to drop in 2009.

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
