Pros

decent work life balance could do exciting work nice colleagues decent office culture (Us only; could be different internationally - esp. Asia has long hours)

Cons

lack of merit based recognition - review standards/feedback keeps changing poor bonus, many excuses not enough differentiation in salaries to adjust for higher cost of living in expensive city vs. cheaper city lack of promotion opportunities. There has been a freeze on all promotions for a long time now job openings exist, but it is very difficult to actually transfer jobs

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
