Pros

Some people are nice, but most are not (in Markets, at least)

Cons

- Abysmally old technology actively makes every day harder and less productive. Countless emails and week(s)long process to troubleshoot and fix technology - Absolute disrespect to entry level employees, you are NOT ever a consideration, you can expect to be openly badmouthed if you aren't around. You are not an investment, you are free labor because it is cheap to retain you for two years to do the worst work, then fire you by not promoting you (This did not happen to me, it happened to others in my year). Very image driven place. - Rancid culture due to absent HR: people will gossip and degrade team members when they aren't around, everyone else can hear it, this is extremely, extremely common - Stingy, stingy, stingy. Food in the cafeteria at the Global HQ is more expensive than at the Duane Reade next door. Very few meaningful benefits compared to peers working for other employers

Pros

Great benefits. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They do more than just pay lip service to work life balance

Cons

Like any job, the manager is the one that can make or break the position

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
