Pros

Mostly day shift hours of work

Cons

The benefits suck for the position of journeynan lineman. The city doesn’t even try to compete with the surrounding utility or the contractors. As a result, very few they get very few people to work here. Average age is over 54 years old! For a lineman, that’s retirement age (at the utilities and contractors). The pension is even worse. On top of that, they have ex utility mangers that try implementing work rules that foster mistrust between management and the union, very sad. They cannot be trusted. Lie to your face, bargain in bad faith, renege on agreements. No wonder no one will come here. This utility will fail in the ne t 5 years.

Working for the City has been a great experience. Leadership is supportive and my job is fulfilling. I get to see the impact my work has on the community. The benefits are great and there are plenty of opportunities for growth with the City being so large. Overall, it's a wonderful place to build a career
