Pros
Great on-going training. Work with your peers. The leadership positions were hired on merit and experience. People were promoted in a very professional matter despite being a seasonal job for high school and college aged kids (there were some exceptions to the age range.) LOTS of breaks. Life guards would get at least 15 minutes of down time per hour on busy days (sometimes 30 minutes of down time per hour. There were some light cleaning duties that needed to be done but most of it was inside the locker rooms and the like.) GREAT PAY! For a seasonal job when home from college it was the best! Great co-workers. The patrons. There were some regulars who absolutely loved the park and everyone who worked there. They made an effort to get to know us.
Cons
Not enough hours for some life guards. Expectation to workout without pay on some occasions. City of Renton higher-ups who didn't have any idea how water recreation sites work had strong opinions on how we should do our job which made NO sense at times.
