Pros

Working remotely comes with many challenges. From finding a company to work with that pays and treats you well to the lack of reasonable pay. Clara affords the opportunity to be a part of a growing community and make a reasonable living while working from home. I've had the opportunity to be part of Clara's tremendous growth and continue to love what I do. The work is not for everyone and requires a great deal of attention to detail and ability to assess protocol quickly and accurately. It's perfect for someone who can't stand too much monotonous work. That said, Clara provides access to a community of experienced contractors, a knowledge base, and near real time help from support. The engineers have done an amazing job creating a platform that gives us every opportunity to succeed and create an amazing customer experience. Overall, I love working with Clara and hope to continue being part of their tremendous growth.

Cons

While the knowledge base is an ever-evolving, work in progress, it needs an overhaul. It can be confusing and hard to navigate. This is especially true for new contractors. The pay can vary depending on the complexity of each job. This can be frustrating when it feels you aren't being paid enough for how much time/effort was put in.

Pros

initially, the benefit of working from home and making really good money working from home ($15-$17/hr). most remote positions do not pay that well, and the work load was very manageable.

Cons

they outsourced most of their jobs to the Philippines, driving out all of their American/US-based contractors. they did this by changing their pay structure from hourly, to paying contractors for the "number of emails" they produced. they had a rating system and you had to maintain a certain percentage (grammar, email structure, number of mistakes) in order to keep your job. but they allowed other "Clara's" (as they call you) to evaluate your emails processed. they created a very cut-throat environment and everyone was real quick to evaluate what the previous clara had done in order to ding up percentages. it was ridiculously competitive and unscrupulous. since most of their workers became filipinos, you had non-americans judging your grammar and sentence structure - how does THAT make any sense??? they also highly limit the number of hours you work, so this might be good part-time, but not full-time. at least in the US. last i heard, they were only hiring filipinos anyways because we can't afford to living on $5 per hour but that's average income there. they became a company that only cared about their dollars because they had to report back to investors. it started as a company who seemed to care about their contractors and built a very tight-knit online community. no longer
