Pros

I've thoroughly enjoyed my ongoing experience at Clark Construction. The company has continually invested in both my professional and personal growth. This isn't an aberration, but a reflection of the company's inherent and stated values. Examples of professional development opportunities include a week-long immersive project management training with hundreds of peers from around the country, challenging and engaging project assignments, and opportunities to travel and learn from other project teams around the country. Personal development opportunities include strong compensation and benefits packages, excellent family leave opportunities (2 weeks paid parental leave for new fathers, more for mothers), and a genuine interest and support from management in the health and well-being of employees and their families. Clark seems to be a leader in promoting racial and gender diversity within the US construction industry. Management is approachable and engaged in supporting the team in a successful project delivery. The corporate hub invests significantly in engaging and informing the various divisions and locations around the country. Project teams are both professional and fun. My favorite example of a Clark benefit, is when my wife gave birth to our first child, not only did the company give me two weeks paid leave, but my managers setup the job to ensure that my work was covered as well as possible while I was out. No one made me feel bad about using my benefit, and everyone went out of their way to take on a little more so I could take off. I'm truly grateful for not just company policy to support personal growth, but management and team execution in the spirit of those policies. Working for Clark has been the best job I've ever had, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend a career with Clark to anyone.

Cons

My biggest complaint about Clark is probably one I would have about any company and is more of a complaint about the dominant culture in the United States. The catering often isn't healthy, the beverages purchased for lunches are always sodas or bottled water, vacation time is insufficient, the recycling efforts in the office and on the construction site could be enhanced, carbon/energy/environmental footprints should be tracked, cost savings could be realized and distributed. Clark is probably performing above average on many wellness and sustainability initiatives, but I am passionate about these topics and would like to see the company become more of a leader in these areas.

Pros

-Interesting projects -Exposure within the industry

Cons

-Almost every review I’ve seen everyone says over worked. They say it’s the industry but Clark is known in the construction world for that. Working 12 hours in the field in normal and expected. - they favor certain people and make them little mentees under long term employees. Those people are then given a gold star. -Departments who you think would care about their people ( HR and Communications do not) -become so woke yet don’t actually react -Make the new vacation policy look like a benefit but it’s actually less time and keeps them from having to pay out if you leave - take pride in “safety” but expect you to drive to work in a snowstorm because they cleared the parking lot. The amount of people that were amazed at that email is insane.
