Pros

The students are amazing, sweet and loving with an incredible zest to learn. The younger students really admire their teachers. Interesting professional development courses- the professional development courses give insight on ways to improve teaching

Cons

Long hours- You are expected to work even after the students leave. Some days I stayed until 6:30 pm. I picked up the brunt of the work for the lead teacher who offered minimal support even though we were supposed to collaborate as a team. Minimal support- Professional development courses are interesting yet doesnt not help in executing what you had learned. Bullying workplace culture: The environment is very passive aggressive, especially school 2. Many staff are bullies who use subtle hints to make you feel subpar. Some have an avant-gard attitude about their teaching experience and expect you to know everything in your first year at the school. There was work-place bullying which made me incredibly uncomfortable and frustrated. Staff at school 2 are incredibly rude and disrespectful when asking for help. I strongly recommend those with little to no job experience to reconsider working here. It sounds alluring to many recent graduates but you are better in serving a different school or working at a public school. Only 8 personal days- Your personal days are used against you in your performance evaluation. It is discouraged for you to use personal days even when you are grieving or very sick. Kids are treated inhumanely- Kids are not treated with dignity and respect. They have no recess and are held to standards that even some adults dont measure up to.

Classical Charter Schools Response

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at Classical. It’s unfortunate to hear that you did not have a fulfilling experience. We acknowledge that we ask our staff to work incredibly hard and that an urgent, feedback-driven environment isn’t for everyone. Related to your comments on our personal leave policy, we want to clarify that we always hope staff do what is necessary to recover when ill and that we offer bereavement leave in times of loss. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and we wish you the best in your future career.

Pros

* Teachers are provided with classroom materials and resources. * Teachers are not required to pay for or print materials on their own. * Operations team supports printing and material preparation.

Cons

* Printing machines frequently break down, causing delays and disruptions. * Teachers do not have direct access to printing and must rely on Operations. * Teacher supply requests are often limited or denied despite classroom needs. * Staff morale and student joy feel very low or nonexistent. * School leadership creates a culture of fear when data is not where it is expected to be. * There is little accountability placed on parents regarding attendance and scholar responsibilities. * Attendance policies are extremely strict for staff and students. * Spirit days lack excitement because students are often still restricted by uniform expectations. * Overall school culture can feel overly rigid and stressful rather than supportive and uplifting.
