Pros

Structured day and of course, the children are so incredible. They offer internal growth primarily as an incentive to stay because their turnover rate is extremely high.

Cons

**Please be advised that while reading reviews, CCS asks their employees to write them good reviews. Therefore, some reviews are biased and not giving honest feedback** Excessively long work hours. Be prepared to work through your lunch and lose your preps due to meetings. Be prepared to stay after school for meetings that can potentially run until 7:30PM. There is NO lock down drills, shelter in place drills, etc. Classroom doors DO NOT LOCK. The bathroom door lock however if someone puts in the code and turns the handle with a bit of force the door will open. Children do not get recess and have no freedom to just act like kids. Instructional coaches are redundant and their feedback is not effective nor is it productive. You will be working 7 days a week so please be prepared for that. The talent team is not forthcoming on job descriptions. Read your contract thoroughly and be ready to ask lots of questions! This job is not for everyone because of the low work/life balance.

Classical Charter Schools Response

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at Classical. It’s unfortunate to hear that you did not have a fulfilling experience. Related to your comments on our practice of requesting company reviews, we want to clarify that we have never, and will never, curate who we ask to leave reviews or ask employees to leave positive, biased, or inaccurate reviews. We ask employees to leave reviews on Glassdoor to ensure that we are providing prospective candidates with an accurate interpretation of what it is like to work at Classical Charter Schools from the prospective of multiple staff members. Not all of the reviews that come from this practice are positive. Teaching is incredibly challenging work, especially in your first year, and we acknowledge that we ask our staff to work incredibly hard to provide scholars with an excellent education. We also acknowledge that an urgent, feedback-driven environment isn’t for everyone. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and we encourage you to share your concerns with your Grade Team Leader and School Director.

Pros

* Teachers are provided with classroom materials and resources. * Teachers are not required to pay for or print materials on their own. * Operations team supports printing and material preparation.

Cons

* Printing machines frequently break down, causing delays and disruptions. * Teachers do not have direct access to printing and must rely on Operations. * Teacher supply requests are often limited or denied despite classroom needs. * Staff morale and student joy feel very low or nonexistent. * School leadership creates a culture of fear when data is not where it is expected to be. * There is little accountability placed on parents regarding attendance and scholar responsibilities. * Attendance policies are extremely strict for staff and students. * Spirit days lack excitement because students are often still restricted by uniform expectations. * Overall school culture can feel overly rigid and stressful rather than supportive and uplifting.
