Pros

1. Clear system of supports for new teachers 2. leadership highly committed to the mission 3. The network is focused on continuous improvement 4. Pathways for teachers to grow in their leadership 5. Strong culture of growth and feedback

Cons

1. It can feel like there is a fear of change and innovation. Because the schools are high performing, trying new approaches is seen as risky or unnecessary by portions of staff and leadership. 2. There is also a lot of room for improvement in regards to making the schools more supportive of students social and emotional needs. This does not get nearly enough attention despite research demonstrating that social and emotional wellbeing is critical for student achievement and development. 3. There is also a huge need for making the schools more culturally responsive and engaging with the community as partners. 4. Network leadership is not reflective of the students the network serves. The network talent team is making concerted efforts to hire more staff of color. However, there also needs to be supports put in place so staff of color feels supported and encouraged to grow into leadership roles.

Pros

* Teachers are provided with classroom materials and resources. * Teachers are not required to pay for or print materials on their own. * Operations team supports printing and material preparation.

Cons

* Printing machines frequently break down, causing delays and disruptions. * Teachers do not have direct access to printing and must rely on Operations. * Teacher supply requests are often limited or denied despite classroom needs. * Staff morale and student joy feel very low or nonexistent. * School leadership creates a culture of fear when data is not where it is expected to be. * There is little accountability placed on parents regarding attendance and scholar responsibilities. * Attendance policies are extremely strict for staff and students. * Spirit days lack excitement because students are often still restricted by uniform expectations. * Overall school culture can feel overly rigid and stressful rather than supportive and uplifting.
