Pros

For the most part a good, smart group of people throughout different teams. Surely, a hard working crew. The views and location are stellar, no doubt about it. Kitchen and snacks are fine, but not uncommon for the startup world. The product is improving on a monthly cadence (long overdue). Not great at anything in particular, but decent all around. Beginning to open up more about targets and numbers, which for some reason was kept under wraps for years. Profitable company.

Cons

VERY tough to meet your sales quota unless you're an SMB rep. In which case your in-bound lead flow is only matched by the singles pouring down at Cheetah's in Vegas during NBA All-Star weekend. Almost by default this team will always make quota. Sales development has been taken apart and lead generation doesn't exist, good luck on ye' mate! AE's will 100% outbound and get nothing from Demand Generation/Marketing. Again, unless you're SMB sales, which would not exist if E-Commerce were in play. Expect work to be HARD and be your own demand gen. engine if you're thinking about joining. "Rock star" sales reps come to clearslide thinking they'll do great because they've done great in past sales jobs, then the wake up call happens. They're usually gone within a few months. Most of the reps are checked out looking for a more positive culture, guidance and some help, any help, with lead generation and more than 0 SDR's. Favoritism is prevalent and it's obvious to everyone. Comp plans & pay outs have been misleading and demoralizing as of late. They tell you it'll be better in the long run. *holding breath* If you're looking for training and career development for sales and services, don't look here. No investment is made for that. Unless you count the inept, hard to work with and inexperienced "sales enablement" which no one does. 'Churn and burn baby' is the mantra for sales here. If you come to clearslide with more expectation than you've read here, come back to this review after 90 days and don't say it wasn't a warning. Sales at Clearslide is not for the faint of heart. Period.

ClearSlide Response

I was disheartened to read this review. It doesn’t reflect my view of the state of ClearSlide, nor the facts we’ve shared internally with the team. Working at a mid-stage start up like ours is challenging. We’ve been very open to the team about the trade-offs necessary to become a self-sustaining company. Could we spend more on lead flow? Yes. Could we add more sales and service heads? Sure. However, I've seen too many companies hire too fast or spend far too much too soon to fund growth at any cost. The approach we’re taking is to grow profitably, and appropriately invest in the business – but this approach and the flexibility required may not be right for everyone. When I factually look at our company, I have a very different outlook of our success. Over 50% of our AEs made Excellence Club, and we celebrated their success this weekend at our event. Our focus and investments in enablement and systems has cut down the time to ramp and made it easier to sell. We are a leader in our industry, have strong alignment with Marketing, and our upcoming product release is a huge step forward for our customers and prospects. Is everything perfect? Of course not. We have a lot of work to do and we need our team's help. If you are a current employee and have good ideas, come find me. You know that I very much have an open door policy – if you’re willing to speak up publicly in a town hall, then come speak to me personally (and if needed, confidentially). I want nothing more than to make every employee successful. If you need help or additional support, just ask. It’s hard to make individual adjustments without real dialog, but when we do work together and address our challenges, goodness will follow. Of that I am certain. - Jeff Schmidt, SVP WW Sales & Services

Pros

Just to preface this, I have been working for ClearSlide for about 1 month and honestly I feel that all the negative reviews being posted here are from a different time period and don't reflect the ClearSlide of today. My observations thus far: 1. I have never been asked to work 10 hours a day. 2. Being proactive with your own career is how you promote career growth here. 3. Leadership is pushing for the company to be profitable. Can't say that for most investment reliant tech startups can you? So on with the PROs: -Very nice and helpful people- I've never had problems getting information. I have multiple avenues of contact with every team within the company. Despite being on a bit of an island in from the SF office in NYC, I still feel connected and can get resources whenever I need them (after 11:30am EST of course). -You are heard- When I find issues in the platform and report them, I always get feedback. I have found a few bugs or non-intuitive functionality within the platform within the month I have been here and the dev team is already actively working to fix all of them. -Excellent work life balance- Like I said before, I was never asked to work 10 hours a day. -Unlimited PTO -Free food- and lots of it! I have many more pros I could list but I'll just keep it short.

Cons

Cons- -No matching 401k yet -NYC office is much quieter. SF office is more lively and fun at the cost of productivity(compared to NYC at least). Not entirely a con I guess. Can't think of any more cons. Will update if any.
