Pros
Good for employees right out of college who want training in the industry. They have free weekly training lunches. I have a lot of friends here, although many share the same thoughts and are looking for other opportunities. Developers are paid and treated fair but this is primarily because the Principals know that Software Developers are in limited supply in Boise. The company hires a lot of young people and although they pay them very little, it's good training ground for those wanting to learn this industry.
Cons
Subjective treatment of employees and low compensation! The Principals like to lead with intimidation and fear tactics but they can also get away with it in this market. Salary and bonuses go through the Principals' subjective process and if you belong to the right 'association' outside of work, you get better treatment. If I achieve more and do more for the company, it doesn't matter. There are no stock options for employees as the owners want employees to work hard and build the company but not share in the success when they sell. A lot of key people have left over the past year including the CEO and the Key Founder. If there was more opportunity in Boise, I think half of the company would leave. It also appears that the owners are getting ready to sell the company which provides uncertainty and risk.
