Most of the leaders in the technical side are men. It's common to hear little comments that shut one down. Like, "no need to be the team mom" - ... um, is that because I noticed and said something wasn't right? Company was around for about 15 years before a woman was allowed to take a team lead role in the dev department because "women don't like to lead". Those little kicks that come from management to women who ask hard questions or dissent with the exhausting overhead and dissent to being called stupid if I don't complete a month of hard work for your mistake just because you're on a 2 day must-be-done schedule? They got rid of all the QA last year - basically most of the women in dev and say it's because QA is terrible so the developers have to figure it out better.
