Pros

-Working PRN allowed me to make my own work schedule and not work holidays -Managers in the float pool were receptive and organized

Cons

Being a nursing staff support person and a nursing student who is about to graduate, I can attest that many nurses at CCF are unhappy with their jobs. Most of the time, even if I had a difficult patient and required immediate assistance, nurses and other staff members were unwilling to enter the patient's room to assist me. I was told on several occasions by RNs, "This is your patient and you are responsible for managing this person's care." These statements were ridiculous, as I was simply a sitter and the RN was ultimately responsible for managing the care of the patient. In contrast to my experiences at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where nurses are always consulted when physicians are making major decisions, at CCF nurses took a backseat and were much more rarely consulted when patients' statuses changed. All of these factors contributed to a poor attitude exhibited by many RNs on multiple floors, which ultimately lead nursing support persons to become demoralized and frustrated.

Pros

Health insurance and maternity benefits are great, though some people have been aggravated by the addition of a deductible in 2026. There is also decent tuition reimbursement, but you need to carefully read all of the policies as the wording can be tricky and even HR doesn't understand all of their own policies.

Cons

Pay seems inconsistent and raises are a joke, getting lower and later every year. PTO is decent but keep in mind that getting paid for holidays comes from that PTO and plan accordingly. HR is a complete JOKE! They never answer, don't seem to understand any of their policies, and have no idea what they are doing. It takes weeks to get ahold of anyone, and they are the farthest from helpful I've ever experienced. Retirement matching is based on years of service, they will put the money in the account but only vest after 3 years so don't count on the amount it shows unless you know 100% for sure you will be there more than 3 years.
