Pros
The current executive leadership is strategic thinking and execute the vision. They are motivated by a continuous-improvement mindset, a sense of always upgrading organizations, and building better processes and systems. Just as important, they have been improving commercial relationships, increasing market share, and developing leadership not only within our company, but within the industry we serve. It really is an exciting time to work at Clinicient. I not only love the people I get to work with every day, but also proud to be a part of the team. Walking together into client offices and clinics, we are an impressive group with a ton of diverse experience and knowledge. I learn something new everyday. The CEO (Kent Rowe) is the most approachable executive at that level I’ve ever worked with, or for, in my entire career. If anyone experienced differently, its most likely a misinterpretation of his quiet confidence and the title. He is a strong leader with technical skills and strategic foresight. Sometimes too smart to keep up with and sometimes unintentionally funny – I think both are great traits that keep things interesting and fun. He embodies the forward thinking philosophies of the company. The COO (HR & Operations - Sandy Pennington) has extensive breadth and depth of experience. She is open, honest and always available. She is direct but professional. There is no wasting time beating around the bush in an hour long meeting only to leave with a vague understanding of what’s expected of me. I appreciate that tremendously. She is very responsive to requests for help or direction. I’m thinking she loves problem solving because she is incredibly good at it. I’ve always been encouraged to contribute, branch out, and expand my knowledge and role within the company. She is generous with her time, advice, and coaching to foster professional and career development. She is also generous with sharing her knowledge and experience – both the good and the bad. It’s a breath of fresh air not often found in c-suite. I haven’t had the opportunity or need to work with the CFO, but the first two times we chatted in the office, I didn’t even know he was the CFO. He was very down to earth and a nice guy. The Founders are the BEST, but I’m biased because I’ve known them longer. Honestly, Herb Brasington and Jerry Henderson are two people that everyone just has to like. Super Smart, talented, and genuinely respected by both the staff and industry. Bottom line, they make everyone proud to work for Clinicient. I've had the opportunity to work with Clinicient over the past 8 years as both a client and then as an employee. I've had a front row seat to Clinicient’s evolution and experienced all of their leadership and organizational changes from competing perspectives. The interesting thing about working at a company in both the technology and healthcare administration industries is that they are straddling opposite sides of the innovation spectrum. Anyone with even limited experience in practice or hospital administration understands that dealing with healthcare payers and federal/state government agencies would know how painfully slow to implement (and resistance to) the process of change is within the industry. We all talk about constant changes in healthcare, but really – look how long it took the US to implement ICD 10. Decades after the rest of the world, with 2 postponements because “it was too hard.” Technology on the other hand moves lightning fast, always looking for the next advancement, the next innovation, sprinting forward. So it comes as no surprise that a company focused on technology led innovation to transform clinical, practice and revenue cycle management, would occasionally need to separate from operations staff with traditional healthcare mindset - foot firmly planted on the other side of that innovation fence. That’s not a criticism of those with conventional wisdom and experience, just maybe not a right fit or comfort level for some. No harm, no foul. What does surprise me however, is the unprofessional posts from previous operations staff – one did multiple times no less. Ironically, their reviews speak more about them, not the company. The outstanding performance and improvements in billing/operations/CS speak for our team and Sandy's leadership. To be certain, for every negative review of Sandy, there are 50+ employees - current and past - that value and respect her. From how a company implements their policies, keep, motivate, and promote staff, a company will get the employees they deserve. Clearly, Sandy believed Clinicient deserved better. We agree.
Cons
Nothing worth mentioning - growing company experiencing normal growing pains. Big picture, these are the problems you want to have
