Although the Benefits are Many, I Still Would Like to Eat At Work Without Being Made to Feel Guilty or Like a Snowflake - On Board Clipper Vacations Employee Review

Pros

Travel Benefits--Ferries: free travel to Victoria, BC and Friday Harbor --A few airlines: stand-by Accrued PTO Matching 401 k Vacation Time: no cap as long as there are enough people working Volunteer-off: some days when over-staffed can volunteer off as long as supervisor approves

Cons

High pressure to sell items, especially high money items, like tours. Some passengers are just using the ferry for travel, and don't want to hear a 10 to 20 minute tour announcement. Hours are dependent on weather, so never set. Understaffed and overworked. Have to clean up vomit on rough weather days. Depending on a shift and the supervisor, we are not always given breaks (usually have to ask for them) and often when asking for time to sit down and eat a supervisor will act frustrated or will say yes, but will tell you to hurry. Hard to have a good sleep schedule, especially in winter, because of split shift.
