Pros

Nothing.....I must enter 5 words apparently, but there aren't 5 good things about this place.

Cons

Where can I start. Let's start with previous comments. A lot of people have said in the ONE good thing they mention is that there are a lot of young people at the company. That is not quite exactly a great thing. Several of the people CoStar hires have not had any previous employment. I am not pretentious nor judgmental of anyone, however its nearly insulting to my intelligence to have multiple college degrees and be in the same peer group as someone who maybe a high school graduate. This experience has cause me to re-evaluate my life and examine where I have failed. Management seems to think negative reinforcement is the key to survival. I wish glassdoor would let us upload pix in our review so I could show you how nearly every single message in an average inbox is negative, what you didn't do right, what you did do wrong. Would it kill you guys to actually say something nice to somebody one time? Like for instance, "You did a nice job on the phones yesterday, keep up the great work! :-) " No. Never. Not in your dreams. Management hasn't realized basic human interaction, you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. Have a Coke and a smile guys. Furthermore, management wont even call you by your name and say hello, but they will tell you it's 3 minutes past the hour & tell you to get to work. Don't come here if you have ever cared about being a team player or actually believing any of that Together Everyone Achieves More hogwash. You will learn very quickly they don't care, you don't count, nothing else matters but how much you're on the phone. There will never be a team building event, like so & so team meeting for drinks at one of the many watering establishments close by so people could actually learn their coworkers names. There is a constant fear of who will be fired next in the office. There is no job security. Training is an utter disaster. They show how much they dont care about you and your status at the company with this abysmal training.

CoStar Group Response

We do not require anyone in our Community Research roles to have advanced degrees. As that is not a requirement, a person who has multiple college degrees and accepted the role should not be surprised to find colleagues who have not reached the same level of education as them. As one of the newest additions to our Research department, Community Research begins with contracted employees provided by an agency, which should have fully explained the nature of the job when they offered you the position. At CoStar Group we are proud to have employees from all different levels of education and those with varied work experience, which is why we are not going to refuse a person with multiple degrees from an entry level position if that is the role they have come to us for. Saying that it insults your intelligence to work with someone who has a high school diploma doesn’t offend this company so much as it offends the colleagues you speak of. Community researchers receive weekly bonuses for excelling in their duties, many of which reach those marks regularly and as a result see that extra monetary compensation beyond their regular pay for doing a great job on a weekly basis. We hope our community researchers are able to see that as recognition. CoStar Group cares deeply about its employees, and while we do have to get actual work done while we’re in the office, the Community Research management team is constantly developing new things to help colleagues work together and enjoy their time in the office more – including team trivia challenges, team lunches, birthday celebrations and more. Recently the office gave away Atlanta Hawks tickets along with many other prizes as part of its ongoing recognition initiatives. It’s difficult to have office happy hours because we have about 80 community researchers who work hours later in the day who would be unable to attend any happy hours at all, and that would be unfair. We don’t want to give additional offers to one shift group that we can’t give the equivalent to for others, but employees are always welcome to set up non-sponsored CoStar Group events on their own to collaborate with their colleagues. The majority of our community researchers continue to be contractors – and the nature of that means not everyone stays around. But we notice good work and want to keep those who appear to enjoy the job as well, with new opportunities to apply for a full-time position and join the Research career path every six to eight weeks for community researchers.

Pros

I worked for Homes.com - Great first job out of college to learn a lot about sales and can make good money in the first 3 months - FIND PEOPLE THAT HAVE DONE THIS JOB AND HAVE LEFT AND FIGURE OUT WHY CUZ THEY'LL TELL YOU

Cons

I worked for Homes.com - You're doing 3 jobs in one and the pay does not reflect that - it is churn and burn. The average tenure here is 7 months - Management doesn't know what's going on 3/4 of the time. It is all up to the CEO and he's on his private jet more than 3/4 of the time
