Pros
Coborn's has a lot of opportunity for growth at all levels. Many different banners to jump around with. They now offer an employee discount on some items which is nice. Remodeling some of their stores means they are re-investing back into the company in some markets. Chris Coborn is a genuine person who is beyond is very intelligent and loves his business. CON- If only he would listen to more mid levels leaders versus just his Operations team (VP and higher). He gets the wool pulled over his eyes a lot and is only told what he wants to hear.
Cons
People tend (not always) to only get promoted when a restructure occurs or somebody leaves. A company who truly values growth, create opportunities versus having to only back-fill and figure out how to run more lean (use saved dollars to give promotions to help with retention). Operations rules the roost at this company and anybody who gets in their way is black listed. Opinions are not truly taken in to consideration or voiced to the proper levels. Corporate does what is best for them versus trying out recommendation from retail. Store leaders can't run their stores based on their own knowledge or community needs, corporate dictates too much. Corporate needs to spend some time working in a store (not visiting sitting on their computers) and retail leaders need to spend some time at Corporate shadowing various areas. Too many leaders at corporate are so scared and don't speak up to the right people. Those you thought you could trust can turn around and stab you in the back to only help themselves, it has become very cut throat versus collaborative. It's all about the money now with Coborn's.
