Pros
I worked at Cogent for a little over two years and throughout my time at Cogent, I found myself grow in my role and mentored by the uppper management. I was immediately impressed with the open culture and flexible environment in the company. The company owners are well known and respected in the Federal world (CMS, HUD, etc.) and genuinely value quality and timely delivery that effectively serves client needs.
It is a growing company and has a potential to really thrive in the Federal contracting world. The best part is that the company wants its staff to grow with it.
It offers competitive compensation and good benefits (especially 401K, which was fully vested from year 1).
Management made the employees feel valued and heard. They collected feedback on the kind of snacks folks wanted to the inventory of office supplies. Management is not into cutting corners or penny pinching at the expense of the employees. I felt like they had my back while I was there and promoted mutual respect amongst the team members.
Cons
Cogent had some growing pains that I have seen improve drastically during my time. For instance, there was no individual training budget allocated in my first year but by the second year, I was able to certify/ renew my certifications, thanks to a good training budget.
