Pros
-Coworkers are great. You'll make lasting friendships here, and the company's reputation continues to attract interesting, kind, funny people. -Good benefits for the type of work. Yeah, insurance will cost you an arm and a leg, but stick around long enough and the company will contribute a good percentage of it. No sick days, but you'll earn PTO starting your first day. -Great coffee. Inspiring settings, though some are showing their age - more on that.
Cons
- Out of touch owners and management. The company has overreached into Chicago, all the while asking hourly employees to make sacrifices in terms of cut hours, and meaningless raises (1%?? really?). Additional training and experience isn't reflected accurately by the hourly worker pay scale, which makes it almost not worth it to pursue advancement. Interview process for promotions is not transparent. -Many of the older cafes and equipment are starting to show serious wear and tear, but the management refuses to invest into them, and instead claims this is a result of the stretched-too-thin-already hourly workers not working hard enough.
