Pros
The coworkers are great (if you're looking for a younger crowd), free snacks, consistent covid testing. Decent pay for the work. The benefits they promise are usually delivered, so I don't see much point in listing them here (eg. dog friendly office, etc.)
Cons
The people put into place as lab managers/supervisors are not good at communicating with their employees. Opinions on troubleshooting processes are often disregarded if you are not a lead. The hierarchy/chain of commmand is muddy, with the lowest on the totem pole receiving the majority of blame for problems. Upon hire, was promised a certain number of days paid vacation. Two months later the employee handbook was changed with no warning, and I was forced to work on Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, and New Years, and all the days between, which were previously paid vacation time. There is little room for promotion within the company for CLAs, with the exception of going from CLA I to CLA II, which has no functional difference and only $1 difference in pay per hour. Was told that my offer was non-negotiable in an attempt at fairness and equity between employees, and then discovered than another worker had in fact been able to negotiate her salary.
