Pros

Solid medical/dental/vision benefits package options. Separate vacation and sick time

Cons

Vacation time policy changed 6 months after I was hired and went from being based on seniority to being based on the “importance” of the job title/function. So basically you only have the option for more vacation if you can move up to a higher role, which can be very limited in a company of this size. Also, I can’t speak for all departments, but my department has been nothing but constant upheaval with zero or poor communication within a constantly changing work environment. Current work performance expectations are so far beyond realistic you can no longer even see the measuring stick. Remarks to management about the overload of work have simply been shrugged off to immediately be followed with questions about why we are behind in work. Lastly, the specific behaviors of upper management are both demoralizing and unprofessional. By unprofessional, that includes other associates hearing gossip conversations amongst higher management about other employees looking outside the company for better opportunities (when moving up within the department was not an option) and a member of upper management actually yelling at a direct report so loudly that the conversation could easily be heard outside the doors of the office. Lastly, there is no attempt by management to truly engage with or get to know members of the team. While this may seem minor, when there are a lot of employers out there now trying to do a better job of consistently showing their employees that they are important and matter to the success of the business, a company can’t slack on this anymore.

Pros

Columbia Banking System has been a great place to work for thus far. The environment is enjoyable and the company itself is virtuous.

Cons

There is quite a bit of downtime in-between customers, but this is also a pro because it means there is ample opportunity to get more customers through the door and banking with us.

Pros

Great People, generous Vacation and Sick time, and decent facilities.

Cons

Poor communication from leadership. Typical "Good ol' Boys Club" type politics, and too many convoluted policies and procedures to keep up. Hard workers are awarded with more work, while others are allowed to skate by under the radar.
