Pros

Working with the members of the community. Many of the co-workers are amazing. The pay (not the benefits) is pretty good.

Cons

Constant favoritism. If you are a favorite, then your job is secure. If you aren't, you will be micromanaged to the point of a breakdown or just walking out the door. Three people have already done that in the last month in my department. They sell the whole Planetree / Just Culture crap at orientation, but they do not live up to it. There is nothing 'just' about the way the staff is treated. There is motivation by humiliation and intimidation and the constant threat of losing your job. If you are a good suck up, you can get away with anything. The union stewards who are supposed to be there to support the staff aren't trust worthy either . It is just horrible. The patient access supervisor is a nightmare to work under. If she likes you, you are golden. If she doesn't, there will be nothing that you can do right. No matter how hard you try, she will find something to complain about and always makes sure that it is in an email so that it can be taken to HR when she wants to get rid of you. Standing up for yourself is not tolerated by her. I don't think that this behavior is part of her job, it just appears that she is a controlling, bullyish person. She uses intimidation and nastiness to get a compliant staff. Actually, happy people who feel appreciated make better employees. They also make less frequent mistakes. People who aren't constantly worrying about being fired for something that the supervisor assumes they did or what someone else says they did, will stay longer. CEO seems to be oblivious to what goes on. Or maybe he just doesn't care. The job itself is wonderful and the patients are great to work with, even when they are grumpy. The hospital and town are so beautiful and this could be such a great place to work if the CEO would take some input from those of us at the bottom of the totem pole. AND THEN MAKE CHANGES.
