Pros
Great location off Michigan Avenue, by the Chicago River. Sometimes, the CEO's secretary gives free Bulls and Blackhawks tickets away. Great co-workers. Near public transportation (a 10-15 minute walk from the Metra or the Red Line). Not a bad position for a fresh-out-of college, entry-level position.
Cons
The micromanaging is killing morale. Management is installing software that records your calls (even if your job description does not require you to be on the phones), both outgoing and incoming calls. Management is also installing software that records your keystrokes when you're processing a claim or assisting a customer. You will get a "We have our eye on you" memo if you take 2 sick days within a 90-day period, even if there is no discernible pattern with those absences, and even if those absences are months apart. Also, regarding benefits, you are only allowed three sick days per year. I also witnessed a former co-worker (who was a great worker and team-player) get terminated in the most obvious and ham-fisted way imaginable. The paper trail that was used to terminate this employee was sudden and flimsy, I've seen people suddenly "banished" to other departments. These were stark reminders that no one is safe.
