Pros

I really enjoyed my cllients and coworkers.

Cons

Never, never a raise. Not paid at night even though clients kept me awake most nights. Management does not reward you, support you or even seem to care about you. There are not enough live-in caregivers. They are always calling us on our days off. They hire people with NO experience and they expect you to go from ambulatory care to skilled care and just assume you have the skills and equipment. I am fortunate to have my CNA but some of my coworkers have no experience and no training whatsoever. I do believe they would hire anyone. They promise you help and no one shows up. They allow their clients to remain on the couch immobile rather than get the nursing care they need in a nursing home. Anything to keep making money! As soon as someone becomes impossible to care for at home they simply call in hospice. I have had to work every weekend for 4 years with no paid vacation, no gas mileage, no benefits whatsoever. It's hard work and it takes a toll on you. I have had sciatica, developed prediabetes and weakened my immune system because of the lack of sleep. I have hurt my knees and back from trying to lift and pull people up in bed and no one there to help. And the pay comes out to $5.49 an hour!

Pros

Great pay and benefit opportunities. The message of the company is good and the owners are incredibly welcoming. They provided all the equipment and were quick to get you whatever you needed.

Cons

The office environment was extremely toxic. It was very "cliche" with everyone saying awful things about each other. Yelling, slamming and throwing things was a regular occurrence. The lack of empathy towards the clients as well as caregivers was abhorrent. The training was lackluster with the view of corrective action instead of preventive action with mistakes. I was constantly ignored or snapped at when asking questions. After spending a day training at another office, I fully believe the toxicity is centered around this one office in particular and does not translate over to the other offices.
