Pros

My direct coworkers were amazing to work with and are the only reason this company is getting more than one star. Because it was such a small campus we had great, tight knit teams and it made communicating between disciplines pretty easy.

Cons

Just about everything else. My predecessor made 10% more hourly even though I had more education and we had actually graduated from the same undergrad program one year apart. They claimed it was due to experience, just ignore the fact that he had gotten a significant raise when they gave him more responsibility (making the role cover two hospitals instead of one). I was also denied mileage for the extra travel out to the second more distant hospital for the first twenty two months out of the two years I worked there- the two hospitals are in two different COUNTIES let alone two different cities. I was also told my masters degree in the field "only helped me, and not the hospital since it isn't required for the credential" and it would not be considered into what they wanted to offer for pay. Then a year later a masters degree became required to sit for the CDR exam, and there still has not been a pay scale adjustment for the dietitians in the mountain region. Other bonuses are not applied equally for dietitians across different campuses either. Some of the larger campuses reimburse the RDs for the annual CDR fees, I was never offered this. Other RDs also get a per diem credit in the cafeteria (or similarly valued meal voucher), and this perk was to denied me this as well. These are all hospitals in the Mountain Region, where you would think they would have some consistency. In addition to not paying me the same hourly rate for the same job as my predecessor, I was also given a different title. The previous RD was a "lead" and I was not. A ridiculous difference, since we were both the only full time RD at both hospital sites. Management tried to dangle that title change as a "growth opportunity" after two years with the company. No actual change in job duties, and probably not in pay either. When I tried to bring this up the HR, I was told experience was the reason the pay was significantly different. They failed to address the other perks I had not been given, despite my asking multiple times. And when I did reach the amount of experience my predecessor had, I was not given an almost 11% raise as he had been. In fact, when I tried to continue the conversation about pay with HR and/or the compensation consultant they stopped responding to my emails. After trying to get through the HR for over a year, it's time to move on to somewhere where I, and the profession, am more valued. Thankfully there is finally a clinical manager for the RDs in the mountain region who I have high hopes for, but for me and this company it is time to part ways.

Pros

Great place to be involved in the community and get-to-know local docs. It's also a nice change of pace from regular ER life.

Cons

VERY high turn over. Poor incentives for pay and they require a binder/ladder for the RN to get a pay increase. The binder is a big ask for somebody who is busy at work and values their time off. Also, they are quick to fire people who have been working locally for years, including management. Sadly, the culture is also full of bullies and nurses who pick on each other/talk behind each other's backs. There is no real security and each nurse is asked to take on projects at the facility. Each season is full of new people and feels like a winter camp for adults. Drama, bad pay, and tight quarters = major discomfort majority of the time. Nobody knows how to communicate and be an adult. One p/t RN is the ring leader and she is mean.
