Pros
Commonwealth is focused on indispensible service for not only its customers, but also its employees. The Professional Development focus is incredible and the benefits rival any I've seen. It is clear that Commonwealth cares deeply for its employees and makes every attempt to be fair and honest with them. Despite having almost 500 employees, the company still feels like a family. Commonwealth has been voted among the Best Places to Work in Massachusetts by Boston Business Journal 5 years in a row. Most of the senior management has been with the company for well over 10 years and that passion and commitment show. I love working here.
Cons
There are really only two downsides of working at Commonwealth for me. First is the commute. I'm not wild about the idea of raising my family in Waltham, but all of the immediate surrounding towns are way out of my price range. So it is quite challenging to find a family-friendly town without having a 30 minute + commute. Such is life around Boston. The second downside of working at Commonwealth is that there are politics here like there are at any other company. People have different work styles and some are better at accommodating those differences than others are.
