Hi Current Employee,
A joke? My wife continuously reminds me that I’m not funny at all! But I realize that’s not the point of your comment.
Remote work is indeed real, and we’re fortunate that our team has been able to do a remarkable job providing indispensable service to our affiliated Advisors while working from home. But make no mistake, as good as we’ve been, we haven’t been as effective in all aspects of our jobs working remotely, and I firmly believe we’re “Better Together.”
This is particularly true with training, mentoring, coaching, learning through osmosis, and building relationships. For me, it’s often during the walk back to one’s office from a meeting where a meaningful debriefing exchange occurs, and that’s lost with online meetings that simply “end.”
We’re very excited about our new hybrid approach. We will be evolving from a primarily on-prem workforce to a hybrid environment offering up to 40% (2 days) work from home. It’ll provide a terrific balance of on-prem and remote work.
I certainly understand that some folks prefer fully remote options, and that’s ok—it just doesn’t fit our approach that highly values the benefits and on-premises workplace provides. This strategy doesn't mean either one of us is right or wrong—it’s just not a great fit for some folks.
As far as supporting our team, in addition to our standard benefits, we have also done our best to support our team with additional flex time, firm-purchased equipment for home, stipends for expenses, extra paid time off for vaccinations, or sickness, both personal and as a caregiver.
I’m certainly open to hearing any specific suggestions or feedback you might have on supporting you better or any other thoughts on keeping Commonwealth great.
Have a great day,
Wayne
