Pros
Working with kids is great. This job allows you to expand your knowledge in community needs, values, cultures, and opens your eyes to good and bad situations that you’d otherwise be oblivious to. It’s an organization that really does help make a difference in the life of children and in the community.
Cons
They make it very difficult to get a raise. They do not value employees yet expect a lot with little to no compensation. Yet they throw these extravagant staff development sessions. Any other place would most likely pay better than they do. They have terribly high turnover rates and are constantly hiring new people. Management constantly comes up with new titles for their team and in turn are constantly getting raises. They’re like a cult and will try to brainwash you into thinking you should give your money, free time, and do free labor to “help the kids”. They don’t pay overtime. Poor leadership and poor communication.
