You get to work with kids and actually help them in the schools. It's so much easier to focus on achieveing small steps in school rather than counseling for bad behavior alone. You work with school staff, students, and families. The reward is great to see students get promoted every year and literally watch them grow! There are 5 non-profits under the umbrella of CIS so if you want a change, a lateral change is fairly easy and they will work with you if your work stands out. DIrectors are supportive and your work is pretty autonomous. If you work hard and connect well with kids, you will see the fruits of your labor within 1-2 years.
