Pros
The way that CIS is growing is creating a really strong leadership team, you are able to see the impact that you have on the kids you work with, and you get to work inside of a school (if that is something you want to do)
Cons
The pay just doesn't cut it for how much you are expected to do. You don't get the same days off (or summers) as teachers-even though you are working the same schedule + you're paid less with less benefits. The schools usually abuse the SSS in the schools by requiring them to pull the same weight as a teacher, like covering classes, field trips, school dances, extra meetings. Plus leadership pats themselves on the back for giving everyone a "pay raise" when it is still not enough to make ends meet in this town. There are NO opportunities for leadership, there are NO opportunities for growth, and unless you are willing to jump through hoops and go above and beyond you are simply "okay" at your job.
