Pros

The company and it's employees make a real attempt to better the lives of disadvantaged people on medical assistance. It has a good corporate attitude. The pay was decent and matched others in the industry I worked with.

Cons

The workload was untenable. I believe in work/life balance and try to keep my hours as close to 40 hrs/week as possible. That will not happen if you become a RN case manager. The load of 80 clients per nurse is unreasonable and is way more hours/wk than I was willing to work. The job requires at least 60 hours/wk if you want to stay on top of things. There are constant admissions and discharges added on top of the clients that need services. There are endless piles of paperwork that take away from time that should be spent directly with the clients. Also, you will put a LOT of miles on your car.

Pros

Decent salary for the area and for human services. Work from home. Job itself is quite simple, although overwhelming due to work load.

Cons

Job duties greatly increased within the past few years. Loss of autonomy due to switch from salaries rate to hourly rate. Increasing case loads. Not a lot of room for advancement.
