ComputerCare is your stereotypical company who flaunts their values and follows none of it. They promote people based on who they know and not what they know and their skills. It's all about how much you can brown nose upper management not only leadership but VP level as well. There's so many bad things to cover.. where to start.. Well - 1. As mentioned earlier they mostly promote people who leadership is close to. It all depends on how much they like you and how much you kiss their butt. I've seen people after people getting promoted not because of their skills but because how much they boast about how hard working they are and how much work they have to do even though there's none, because in ComputerCare managers base your productivity not on how many things you've done in the day, but how many things you complain you have to do in the day even though its not true.. 2, Even though according to the CEO there is a merit increase freeze due to the economy which means anyone who's supposed to get a yearly evaluation wont get a pay increase no matter how good your evaluations go.. while those people who got promoted by their "friends" get a hefty wage increase far more than what the starting pay would be for that new position they got. Yes this is true because people at work discuss the wage they got offered in their new position... They can't give someone a .71 cent pay increase if they get a exceeds expectation on their yearly evaluation because of merit freeze, but they will give someone a nearly $8 pay increase because they got a promotion? Mind you that's still $4-6 more than what the starting pay would've been for that position. 3. They push so hard in promoting their values to the point that they want you to see it in every corner in the office down to the very screen you look at 8 hours a day.. and the walls around you.. Okay we get it.. those are your values.. but what's the point of them if you don't follow them? You flaunt to your employees, your customers.. about how connected you are to the people that do the work in the company but you terminate people without hesitation.. you implement unattainable metrics so that its easy to fire "underperforming" employees without giving them a second chance, heck you even terminated the people who essentially came together and came up with your values. How ironic is that. 4. Lack of communication and structure... for a company to brag that its their "20th Anniversary" they run the place like its a startup that just began last year.. They don't have processes for a lot of things and rely on regular entry level employees to figure it out for them. What's worse is when they do, their managers and leads take credit for it and say we this... we that... no.. WE didn't do anything.. I did.. while your managers and leads are too busy massaging each others ego. They make it sound so grand by saying "the team collaborated.." no we didn't collaborate on anything.. 1 senior member bragged to other people how busy his department is.. the lead massaged the VPs ego by saying "were doing such a good job collaborating" while the rest did the actual work and the senior member took credit for it... And no recognition whatsoever was given to the actual entry level employees.. All in all, ComputerCare is definitely a company I would not recommend to anyone. Its your typical small company who is so blinded by their "values" are either in denial or just out right ignoring their shortcomings. All locations have a very toxic work environment specially the ones that have "senior" members their the worse.. they're the ones who brown nose a lot and get hefty pay increases when promoted.. always taking credit for other people's work.
