Pros

Good benefit package and a flexible work environment. There are some very intelligent, friendly, and just downright good people here.

Cons

CTC is in a death spiral. We used to have ~1,600 employees. Currently, we are down to ~420. This number is going to keep trending downward. Many employees are running out of work. There is a cliff coming in December where work runs out for a good deal of folks. Our CEO cares about one thing – perception. Case in point, do not believe the positive reviews you read on here. As bad as things are here at CTC, our CEO has decided that the best course of action is hire and outside consulting firm to improve our reputation on social media sites. Rather than spending dollars on BD efforts, we are paying an organization to make us look like something we are not. We have cut funding for company events like a summer picnic and Christmas party. We have cut funding for proposals and internal research. However, we haven’t cut funding for the important things that will get us out of this mess like providing our executives with $40,000 vehicles, country club memberships, etc. Look up the IRS 990 forms for CTC. Look at how much our CEO makes to run this once great organization into the ground. Where else can you be such a complete and total failure and still be rewarded like a Wall Street hedge fund manager? What is the solution to this mess? The CEO MUST go for there to be any chance of CTC staging a comeback. Hopefully, our CEO spends some time reflecting and decides to step down for the greater good of the organization. Unfortunately, the lure of greed is too much for most, so I don’t see that happening. This is where the board of directors (BOD) should step in and replace our CEO. Sadly, our BOD is appointed by our executives and some of our executives sit on the board. This is the downside of being a nonprofit. There is no accountability. This is a classic case of the good ol’ boy network. A for profit company’s BOD reports to shareholders who holds them accountable. Therefore, accountability is full circle. Our BOD has watched our company lose 75% of its workforce. Isn’t it time to make a change? Isn’t it time for the most ethical company in the world(see comment on CEO caring only about perception) to do the right thing? Every person that I talk to in private agrees that there is no way to right this ship with our current culture/leadership. One thing missing at CTC at the senior level is leadership. We have management, not leadership. A true leader would make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the organization. Our CEO loves to blame the economy, the currently business climate, etc. Blame everything, except for himself. Sadly, greed and incompetence is what the few of us here are left with. Morale here is awful. The only hope you have working at CTC is that you don’t get a layoff today. Negativity and despair envelop you thick, stagnant fog. We are so accustomed to bad news that when our recent notice of losing a 100 million dollar contract hit, folks around here didn’t even flinch. We are like battle weary veterans that are so used to death that nothing fazes us anymore.
