They really exploit your raw talents. Some very brilliant people have worked there.
Cons
I was over-educated and underpaid while being overworked and underappreciated. Lot's of hours worked. Sometimes working into the evenings and weekends. You never really had any personal time off because they would rely on you constantly even when you are on vacation. Expect to have your laptop on you always. There are also politics involved in their hiring and promotion strategy. I didn't realize this until I found out that I was severely underpaid compared to my peers. Operations is shortsighted and IMHO superficial. It's as if the execs and VPs were purposefully unqualified. They build a process out of everything. So much so, that it was difficult to actually accomplish anything. Some companies try to berry the task in so much process that thye confuse the clients into thinking they accomplished something, but really they just had a bunch of meetings discussing their goals and drawing out projects so that they can bill for more time. This company lays off the majority of their workforce in December when open enrollment ends and starts the hiring process over in September. Also they just lost a big portion of their business to a competitor so they let go of many key assets. Opportunities for advancement are rare and compensation is sub par. I did not receive a raise the last 3 years I worked there (granted my team was reassigned a manager who vocally did not believe in raises).
