Pros

Benefits, additional PTO available to buy 40 hours in addition to regular PTO bank each year. Unionized for the call center employees.

Cons

Current hiring freeze, no job openings to grow, hourly pay can fluctuate $2 month to month “based on performance” which essentially goes off from if you’re able to answer a new call 30 seconds or less after ending another one, and based on 7 random surveys a month if people decide they like you or are having a bad day. I had a zero survey because a customer didn’t like our phone system but they said they loved me and I helped them and Consumers Energy won’t remove it from my record…..this is unacceptable in my opinion. You’re forced on call, storm and weekend shifts in as little notice as the afternoon of the event. No time off the phones in the call center. 30 minute unpaid lunch, two 15 minute paid breaks everything else is phone call after phone call. Zero time given or built into schedule to read company emails. So you can either read them off the clock, take a hot to your adherence (which can hurt your hourly pay) or don’t read them and you might not be able to help customers.
